SANAA, 13 Dec -- The Department of Immigration and Passport Control Sunday announced 4,132 immigrants were deported between January and October of this year, the defense ministry website, 26-September reported citing statistics by the immigration authority. Of the 4,132 deportees, 2,281 were foreign nationals and 1,851 were Arabs. The department said “African migrants topped the list of deported foreign nationals with 1,950 deportees of which, 1,856 were Ethiopians, 61 Nigerians, 18 Eretrians, 7 Tanzanians, 6 Kenyans, and one from Chad,” adding “254 people from Asia were deported including 96 from India, 28 from Bangladesh, 23 from Indonesia, 22 from Iran, 21 Koreans, 19 Pakistanis, 15 Filipinos, 11 Chinese, 8 from Uzbekistan, 4 Turks, 6 from Tajikistan and Sri Lanka and from Kyrgyzstan.” Europeans came third with 29 British nationals deported, 6 French, 5 Danish, 12 from Germany, Norway and the Netherlands, 7 Russians and Irish, and three from the Maldives, Sweden and Azerbaijan. 14 Americans and two Australians were also deported. Of the 1,851 deported Arabs, 1,355 were Somalis, 165 Iraqis, 225 from Sudan and Egypt, 53 Syrians, 28 from Jordan and Djibouti, 6 Saudis, 12 from Palestine, Lebanon and Kuwait, 3 Tunisians, two Algerians and one Libyan. An immigration official said “those people were deported for violating immigration rules in Yemen.”
