Military Says it Captured 16 Rebels, Killed Several in Sadaa

SADAA, 03 Oct -- A military source Saturday told the defense ministry online news, 26-September that “troops backed by security forces Saturday continued to repel cowardly offensives launched by the elements of rebellion and terrorism,” adding “the army succeeded in thwarting several attempts to plant landmines and explosives in roads and farms and crushed the insurgents.”  The source said “military and security units continued cleaning up farms, and buildings in the west of al-Kamb district and succeeded - in cooperation with noble citizens - to kick out terrorists from homes and farms in the region,” and “military snipers killed two terrorists in Bait al-Hakim area.”  Meanwhile, a security source in the northern region of Sadaa Saturday said “security officers at the al-Radillah checkpoint arrested 16 terrorists and referred them to interrogations,” adding “ten other rebels were captured in the district of Sadaa and security in the area seized a large cache of weapons during a raid on insurgents in the region.”

Military Commander Hails Tribesmen Fighting Rebels in Harf Sufian

AMRAN, 03 Oct -- Deputy Chief of Staff and Commander-in-Chief of military operations in the region of Harf Sufian, Brigadier General Salem Ali Qotn accompanied by senior military officials Saturday met with a number of tribesmen and citizens who are fighting Zaydi Shiite rebels in the area.  He hailed the “heroic stand of the citizens in confronting the elements of terrorism and rebellion,” and told the people in the region: “Your support of the army is a clear indication of your patriotism and your good spirits.  You have demonstrated that protecting the nation’s security and stability are the responsibility of everyone,” adding “your united stand will defeat and crush any power that wants to harm the revolution and the nation’s unity.”  For their part, people in Harf Sufian renewed their support of the political leadership in the country, stressing “we will always stay in the same trench with our brethren in the armed forces against the elements of terrorism and misguidance who are dreaming about turning the clock back to the era of darkness,” and called on the political leadership to “continue fighting the Satanic and criminal rebels.”
